If I've understood this correctly, a wired router would not help as the
only officially-supported way to connect a wireless receiver to a
wireless network is via the ad-hoc wireless method. If I've
misunderstood that, then I pretty much agree with you.  However, a
warning that the network key will be sent in the clear would still be
good.

I have a wired router, but all freebies gladly received.  ;-)
