I'd never set up a wireless router over wireless, for exactly that reason. If I've understood this correctly, this also applies when connecting a receiver to an existing, properly secured (e.g. WPA or WPA2) wireless network. If, in this situation you really are transmitting the network key in the clear before connecting to it, then you're really compromising that network. You should at least warn the user that this is what you're about to do before prompting them for their precious network key! There really should be an alternative for people that have a wired connection they can initially plug the receiver into. Yes, this could be deemed paranoia, but that's what security is all about.
