What the beta units use now is what we'll be shipping. Here's a basic
overview:

During setup, the Receiver listens for UDAP packets from the ethernet
network and on a non-encrypted ad-hoc network (the SSID for that
network is specific to that player). It's not bridging at that time.

A UDAP packet is sent to the Receiver which contains the configuration
for the Receiver, including basic TCP settings (IP addresses, DNS,
DHCP, etc.) and wireless information (network name/SSID, ad-hoc vs
infrastructure, encryption information, etc.) Once received the
Receiver reboots and connects with those settings.

If the Controller is setting things up for it to connect via a private
ad-hoc network (i.e. through the Receiver to a wired network), it
sends down a random 128-bit WEP key for that network. It's not the
strongest security possible (there is no WPA standard for ad-hoc
networks), but it does let folks who don't have a wireless network get
started without any other equipment. For better performance and
stronger security, I recommend that folks invest $50 in a wireless
router and set it up with WPA encryption.
