I was looking into that, but particularly with DRAW that is not an option:

draw line1 $line2  #object name will be line1; point will be at center 
of $line2

is different from

draw $line1 $line2 #object not named; will be a line from center of 
$line1 to center of $line2

I suggest it is better to stick by the rule.
