I think the songs on LOTC are by and large better and more ambitious than
those on Clouds. The sound is freer. As Julius said, it's a sunny morning
album, despite having a song called "Rainy Night House!" BUT I do love
Clouds also. It's a cloudy day album, a little darker sounding, and you're
curled up with a cup of tea listening to it. Joni's voice is more appealing
on Clouds, IMO. In my youth, when people said they hated Joni Mitchell, it
was the LOTC voice they hated. The height of the helium phase. In her
early days she spoke of having two voices: one high, and one deep and husky.
On LOTC she banished the latter.
