If your roland is like my rd300sx, you've got to put it in a different mode to send out it's midi and patch info.

I have the Generic sonar Surface defined under Options /
Controllers-Surfaces, and I have Act learn checked under Options.

Still, when I go to the remote control menu and select "controller", the
value never changes from 0 no matter which volume slider I use on my Roland
RD300GX keyboard.  Maybe these volume sliders don't send out midi signals.
I'll have to read more of the Roland manual.

Fortunately, I can control the automation by using the pitch wheel on my
Roland keyboard, so at least something works for automation.
