I have to disagree with this. Sun have specifically stated that there is no
finalization to the specification and that anything could and can change. The
big thing for me is that 1.0 is "set in stone" as to what the spec will actually
support. Any further releases build on 1.0, not on 0.92. Because 0.92 is a
pre-release, they can throw away whole bits and change the semantics of others -
those hundreds of web pages that people have written could and can become out of
date and require possibly significant changes to work with the final release.
What Sun is doing (the delay, and not providing any information) is abhorrent
and they need to fix it. There is absolutely no excuse for their current
behaviour - if they want to continue to have the standard setting role they have
taken on for themselves, they need to provide more information to their public.
Not less.
