Either you look for a company who will sponsor your thesis OR look for other alternative topics. I prefer the latter. There are lots of good topics that are yet to be developed with a minimum cost lang. One of which is a similar to the G.729 codec. If you can develop a codec with a similar compression rate and quality of the G.729 codec and release it under the GPL, that would be a great contribution to the community and for sure, it will make you famous.
