You should have done it the opposite way. Windows ME and earlier were
not exactly good or stable, but Windows 2000 and XP have been pretty
good.  Add to that the fact that there is tons of open source for
Windows now, and there has never been a better time to be using
Windows than the present (perhaps just pre-Vista).

I'm not saying that Windows better than Linux, or even any good, but
if you haven't used Windows since 98, maybe you probably have an
inaccurate view of the quality of the product.
