Yabbut... what the hell does cdrecord have to do with a desktop manager? This is like how the "base" install of Red Hat (and, I believe, CentOS) includes stuff like bluetooth, isdn, pcmcia, haldaemon, cups, wireless stuff... WTF? A base install should be just that, a bare minimum. My kickstart includes: @ base-x @ base -4Suite -a2ps -acpid -alchemist -alsa-lib -alsa-util -anacron -apmd -aspell -audiofile -autofs -bluez-bluefw -bluez-hcidump -bluez-libs -bluez-util -cups -cups-libs -dapl -dhcpv6_client -dmraid -esound -foomatic -ghostscript -ghostscript-fonts -hal -hal-cups-utils -ibutils -irda-utils -isdn4k-utils -libgnomecups -libibcommon -libibumad -libibverbs -libmthca -librdmacm -libsdp -linuxwacom -lvm2 -mdadm -NetworkManager -Omni -Omni-foomatic -openib -OpenIPMI -OpenIPMI-libs -opensm-libs -pcmcia-cs -pnm2ppa -rp-pppoe -rsh -samba-common -samba-client -specspo -swig -synaptics -system-config-printer -system-config-printer-gui -system-config-soundcard -ttfprint -ttmkfdir -vnc-server -wireless-tools -wpa_supplicant -wvdial compat-db compat-gcc-32 compat-gcc-32-c++ compat-libstdc++-296 libaio libidn make gcc glibc gnome-session openmotif21 seamonkey setarch sysstat And even *that* doesn't result in a truly "base" install, since there are still many dependencies on sound related packages, for example. -- *********************************************************************** * John Oliver http://www.john-oliver.net/ * * * *********************************************************************** -- [email protected] http://www.kernel-panic.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/kplug-list
