I'm not sure if you know this but when/if you buy into U-Verse, you buy into a
Microsoft Windows based IP-TV system front to back. You know those big green
metal boxes with electric meters on them in our neighborhoods? Those have the
fiber running to them and inside those boxes are huge UPS's and some big
Windows servers. They've been blowing up from overheating over the last
couple of years but that's another story. You also get Windows in the settop
box too and there's Windows running all the backend stuff too. I heard that
Sun Micro tried to sell AT&T on their media server which can do thousands of
video streams but because of a contract with Microsft, they'd have to run
Windows on that server.

Something to think about the next time a U-Verse boy knocks on your door
and asks if you want their garbage. It can be fun tweaking with them though.
