Can MythTV handle CC (Closed Captions)?

Yes. Please read the documentation. Basically you need VBI (Vertical
Blanking Interval) support (built into hardware encoder capture cards).
Then when watching either live TV or a recording, use the menu (hit the M
key to bring it up) and then select Closed Caption.

This is another reason to go with a capture card with built-in hardware
encoding such as the Hauppauge line.

That's good. But can I siphon the CC off into a text file or the like? Or even better, when I pause the playback, will the CC stay on the screen? Currently, when I hit pause on my VCR, the CC instantly disappears from the screen.
