Indeed. That's the reason for taking the effort to log in to root
under KDE to see what is going on.

Yup, that's what I'm saying: the font size that, I presume, is
determined by the settings in root are not being applied to the root
mode Krusader - when not logged in as root. Hence, the difference shown
in the image that I linked to.

Let me demonstrate the problem in another way. I log in to root in
KDE for the purposes of debugging. I load Krusader and, from it, start
root mode Krusader. This image:

  http://www.auxbuss.com/temp/snapshot1.png

shows root mode K on top of regular K. Note that the fonts and the
icons are different - although we are definitely using the same user.

The KDE fonts (as defined in Control Centre) that differ in the image
are:

 - Menu (one item)
 - General (three items)

Note that the text showing disk space, the command line are and the
F-key font also differ, but are not controlled via KControl. Where
does Krusader get them from? (Not the panel, which we know about.)

Also, why are different icon sets being used?

Here's what happens when I enlarge the Menu and General fonts in
KControl:

The root mode K changes, but the regular K is unchanged.

Something is clearly not quite right.

Back in non-root userland, here's the same thing - root mode K on top of
regular K. This time, it is the regular K whose fonts change.

  http://www.auxbuss.com/temp/fred2.png

Notice how the initial font sizes differ, although both root and user
have identical settings - according to KControl - and how the root
user is showing the default icon set. After enlarging the fonts, it is
the non-root K whose fonts enlarge and not the root K, which is what
you would expect. However, the fonts - and icons - should be the same
initially.

Yup, I know.

Cheers,
Marc
