There is a tread about mime types errors when using root in Ubuntu http://krusader.sourceforge.net/phpBB/viewtopic.php?t=1512 Not shure that it's related. In my case i change the default settings (e.g. fonts) of my regular user, but i don't change the root settings, and leave them as default. So my regular user and root user have different font settings, but i like it this way :) because the font reminds me that i'm a regular user or a root user.
