if you look at the details, you will see the
difference...like a Registered Labrador and Registered Poodle (both AKC &
CKC) can be in the $300 range, while the higher ranges will have what cheaper
ones don't (dna testing, microchipping, tattoos, CERF, OFA, and genetic testing)
others would have you believe that Australian in front of the name makes it a
higher quality dog (it doesn't make it better or more authentic) and others
still just have the price high because the demand is there.
I have 3 wavy, and two hair coats left (I am not
breeding again) and I will tell you they are the best dogs ever! I love them to
pieces. Cute! But I got tired of people calling irate, and asking if they were
Cerf or if they were OFA or were their champs in the gene pool. I can tell you
what I have learned, you either love the pup or you don't, unconditionally. I
don't want buyers who have such lofty ideas, as to hair coat (they all shed, I
don't care what they tell you) and hypo allergenic (there is no such thing,
allergies aren't always to hair but to dander and saliva). Get a pup because you
love it, and don't spend unnecessary money on things that can't be controlled.
Even the best OFA and Cerf can't guarantee a dog won't get hip dysplasia or eye
problems.
To each his own, but I will never breed again,
because it is so hard to love a puppy & pass it on to someone with too many
expectations. Also, temperament...labs and poodles have a 3 year
puppy/adolescence, yet people all over the internet are saying they test and
guarantee temperament. It can't be done. Temperament is both genetic and
environmental.
CKC states that my pups are registered as mixed
breeds, and can compete in shows with other mixed breeds...that is to
accommodate the breeds being crossed, but unrecognized to date by other forums
as full breeds.
