When I was at junior school (age 7-11) we had "monitors" who basically
were teacher's helpers - chosen from the pupils in the class, they were
the ones who got things out of the cupboard for the teacher, went and
collected the crate of milk for our class, etc. Kant is lace? So
possibly it would translate to lace monitor, or teaching assistant, in a
school, or an assistant curator (eg getting lace out for visitors to a
reserve collection, maybe?) in a museum. This of course, is just a
guess, as I have no knowledge of Dutch or Flemish (gave up on Latin and
scraped through GCE "O" level French, but that is as far as I got!).
