And when I first tackled fans, I began to learn the finer points of tensioning! The answers Wendy got were all examples of ways to tension a fan in straight lace. Putting in twists to "lock" the outside pair, tensioning toward the headside edge, splitting the workers... all tricks that work, depending on the look you're going for.
