Hi Sue

Certainly a lot of advice. However, another thought. When you tension do you
increase the tension gradually to the required strength or, and I have seen it
a lot in Sussex, do you tension and then give an extra tug? A sharp tug will
break a thread much more easily than increasing tension steadily. Tensioning
while pairs are untwisted allows the threads to be firmed up into their
required positions while using less tension than required if when they are
twisted. Put the twists on when the tensioning is complete and before laying
the bobbins down.

Let me know how you get on.

Happy lacemaking
