I agree with Tamara about different dye colors having different effects
on thread. Not only might certain dye colors weaken thread, they can
also change its size and texture. I've noticed this particularly with
embroidery threads where some colors cover better than others. Threads
of certain colors sometimes feel different as well, usually not as
soft. Since some colors tend to bleed more routinely, I suppose that
some dyes leave more residue which may account for the difference in
texture? Perhaps these chemicals account for weakening as well (??)
....though the experience I related previously with my Rosaline thread
related to white or cream colored thread...effects of bleach? Maybe
some of our chemistry-savvy members could comment? I wonder also, as I
mentioned color bleeding, why is it that some colors, *reds* for
example, bleed so much more often than other colors?
