Did you notice gaim was forced to change it's name to pidgin recently ?

The foundation being named "FreePascal Foundation" is a very good idea
so no conflicts about Lazarus here, i'm not sure if Lazarus has to be
registered as a product or trademark or whatever but seeing other
people's experience ... well i bet gaim didn't expect others to
already have it registered. Having a new name doesn't mean directory
structure change and people will probably still find it easily as was
the case with FireBird the database and FireBird the browser which
changed later to FireFox. I'm sure most people using Lazarus like the
name but at some point legal folks might force the Lazarus devs to
change the name even if they don't like that and if it's fair or not.
Unfortunately the legal side of humanity is a pain and constantly
abusing trademark names such as simple common words like "water" or
patenting things in the world around us such as "ferrari red colour"
as you might have guessed it nobody can use ferrari red anywhere, more
reasons to hate patents and licenses which are an abuse mostly.
Having an unique name which might contain the word Lazarus in it is
probably a good idea.
