My stereotype of Germans, though I went to university there so experience may 
be warped :

serious
intellectual (way more so than the UK students I knew)
bit of an irony/sarcasm bypass
incredibly generous
friendly
don't like it up 'em (actually that's not true...couldn't resist.)

Now the Swiss on the other hand.....

Germany is one of my favourite countries in the world. I've only been to Berlin 
and Munich but every German I have met is pleasant, knowledgable and helpful.
