Assuming that we are talking ONLY about ER here - It is probably a mistake to assume that all members of the Krasner group had precisely the same intent and motivation. It is difficult to be certain but from appearances I'd say that Melvyn Helme for one went the extra mile (and bit further) to actually protect the clubs buyback options on ER. Levi also is unlikely to be a beneficiary based on personally watching and listening to him talking about certain factors of the buyback and things said since. They were NOT all big mates conspiring round a table, far from it. Of course I have no evidence of any kind (provable or otherwise) to support your view that ANY of them was in this particular sale and leaseback transaction for personal gain further down the line. I 'know' that there is more than is openly known with regard to Richmond Junior in respect of ER, but I don't know what that something actually is. It was however a nailed-on definite, but may have changed considerably since.
Of course, they badly needed the money at the time as they had over extended themselves to rescue the club, but that is a different matter entirely. At least Krasner - unlike Bates - can genuinely be said to have really saved the club and of that there is absolutely do doubt. Nobody remembers that the bondholders held security over the ground and this security was only relinquished to the Kransortium as an essential part of the deal to rescue the club and this allowed money to be raised against it. Some might argue that without this the club could not have been saved in the first place. They might be right. No sale & leaseback of ER - maybe no club at all ! Whatever alternative (to Krasner) might have happened, the ground would have been owned by the bondholders who may have been able to drive a harder bargain at the time. (There were other debt buyback possibilities but that is another discussion). Their plan was flawed but what they did simply had to be done by somebody. (A s an aside it took considerable effort to prevent some fans, who have a massively over inflated impression of their own personal abilities, from raising money in a big fanfare and tossing it all blindly into that particular black hole. One fruitcake in particular who still pushes himself forward on the scene to this day, and who still has no concept of what he might have been responsible for). If the Krasner group as a whole wanted the nest egg then why the buyback option - unless others in the group insisted that this was the only way that it could be permitted. Adler as far as I know lived in a fairly ordinary house in Manchester. There are very definitely features and factors in this that are related to the way that some Jewish businessmen deal with each other, where and how they live etc, and this can be difficult for non-Jews to understand. I know myself that this can lead to mistaken conclusions about the motivation behind certain things. (No I don't properly understand all of the implications - just that there are some). It is a big and complicated subject. What nobody knows for certain - and curiously it is a subject which is always avoided by everybody - is exactly how the TA/ER leases emerged from the administration. The only thing that is known for certain (AFAIK anyway) is that the ER buyback option was prior-protected and unaffected by the administration.
