I think we can dismiss the "if only Giles had ben given the job"

Taking into account that he is known to be  litigious Ill be careful

He did a good job with the republic of Ireland I suppose, but I don't remember 
his taking them to any finals as player manager.
I think he managed Shamrock Rovers of a few years and then he definitely went 
to Vancouver….no idea what he did there. 

WestBrom he was player manager and they won a promotion in 76 or 77 with him 
and I think he went back there in the mid 80s for a while. I have a "baggies " 
supporting mate and they revered him

But , it was hardly an earth shattering managerial career was it ?

Don't get me wrong, he is one of the few I have forgiven for his time with 
Newton Heath….he was a fantastic ball winner and could open up  defence with 
amazing passes, a fucking genius, a legend…world class…..but was he or would he 
have been a "great manager" , I have my doubts based on his record.

Cloughie was a manager. No doubt.
