GREEN BANS & URBAN ENVIRONMENTALISM - JACK MUNDAY was one of the better
known leaders of the NSW BLF during its period of environmental & social
issues militancy in the 1960s & 70s. In Melbourne last week for a public
meeting organised by the all union green caucus "Earthworker", Jack
reflects on the position of builders labourers in Sydney at the time & the
importance of grassroots rank-&-file & community activism during the NSW
BLF's campaigns.
VERITY BURGMANN lectures in Politics at the University of Melbourne & -
along with her sister Meredith Burgmann [now a NSW ALP MP] - co-authored
the recently published book on the NSW BLF entitled "Green Bans, Red Union".
FEDERAL BUDGET DEFUNDS DISABLED EMPLOYMENT PROGRAM - 18% of Australians
live with a disability. Barriers to employment & training are steep enough
but now the Federal government has cut funding to a crucial pilot program.
BRYAN AMBROSIUS & CONSTANTINA DERTIMANIS [Disability Employment Action
Centre] express their concern.
