I've been following this curious thread and have never seen anything like this problem. I run my computer all day most days and then some nights as well for Mozy to do its backups, and then on into the next day. Sometimes I'll shut it off before firing up Mozy for the night, but if it's already going I just let it keep on without interruption. I also have an excessive amount of RAM onboard so maybe that's the difference. I also have about a dozen programs that boot up with Windows that never shut off although Legacy is not one of them. Somedays I even move as much as 20 GB of files around with resorting and renaming and re-cataloguing things without so much as a blip. The only problem I've ever seen is Window's inability to rename thumbnails without getting confused about which name belongs to what.

I do shut down my computer completely every night.

I've always run with far more RAM than the minimums listed as required by Microsoft. At least twice as much as system requirements for a Windows version I regard as the bare minimum.

My guess is that it is a memory problem. But anything like this that happens often should be followed up with support. If you've really lost data, that's even more important.

[Janis Gilmore] Might this not be a resource problem? If your computer is not loaded with memory, it may require a more frequent reboot, to free up
resources.

I very often leave Legacy open for days at a time, and have never
experienced this problem, although I do occasionally get a little funky
behavior - not this extreme, and no data loss. When it shows the first sign of entering its funky stage, I back up, close the program, and reboot the
computer.

I am on Vista Business.
