That is a lot of memory to fit into a ten year old computer!{;-))

Hi,
I just installed the latest update of Legacy, 7.0.0.109, premium into XP,
Home edition, (10 year old computer with 125 gb. memory).

Since I'm not working on Legacy right now, I backed up from the file drop
down. I have all 6 boxes checked under data files. My *.fdb file is 131 mb.
complete back-up in about 1 min.

Thought of a qhick data change, clicked exit, was asked for back-up, clicked
yes and same good results.

I wish my #&$%^& HP scanner worked anywhere near as good!

The family file is 8.6 mb and I am using Windows XP.

It might help to know what operating system you are using and how large
is your family file

I have tried that and with the same result. It depends how much I use
the program. I can use the backup function if I reboot the computer
(which I assume releases the RAM that was tied up) and use the backup
the very first time I launch Legacy. I have 1 Gig on my computer by the
way.

Have you tried going to File/backup? I use that as opposed to the dialog
reminder when I close Legacy. Does the same issue or problem occur using
File/backup?

I am having a persistent problem with Legacy failing to perform the back
up function. The backup dialog box comes up and I select backup.
Nothing happens and the program shuts down. Is there a memory problem?
Does Legacy latch onto Ram memory, and never let it go? I can easily do
a manual back up by copying my entire data file, but something seems
wrong here. Legacy had me do a reinstall and this seemed to solve the
problem for a day or two but it seems to be back. Any suggestions?
