I never did hear whether you tried backing up from the Family Screen or the
Index Screen, but whatever.

Have you checked to see if, in fact, a backup file is created even though you
think backup has failed?

Before I started backing up ONLY from the Index screen, I thought a back up was
not being created because I had exactly the same things happen to me as are
happening to you. Then, on chance, I checked the folder where I have my Legacy
backups, and, lo and behold, a backup had been created each time! Even though
I thought it had failed, and even though Legacy shut down after "failing" to
back up, a backup HAD been created.

No such problem now.

Have you checked the archives for the myriads of posts about your problem?

Thanks for the help.

1. When I shut down Legacy I get the option to backup. I select that,
the back up fails and the program shuts down.
2. When I reboot, go directly to Legacy, open it and without doing
anything else shut it down, I get the option to back up, the backup
succeeds (although the last time I tried this the backup failed) and
Legacy shuts down.
3. I already did the reinstall option and it worked Ok for a day or two
and it then resumed the described behavior.
