I am a registered user of the Ancestry World Database web site, so yes I use their information frequently. However, so much of the information posted by users is without any documentation what so ever. So I use it for the information and leads that it provides, which is quite good for that. After getting the leads and information, it is necessary that I verify and document the authenticity of that information before it gets into Legacy. Note: I don't consider this is a downside of Legacy. All information should be verified for accuracy.
Recently however, I have found myself using www.familysearch.org more and more, which as I understand it, will be incorporated into Legacy 7.5. Also the FamilySearch labs has some very useful and beneficial tools that can be used, however, they are still in the development stages. Charles _____ From: tbbstny [mailto:[email protected]] Sent: Tuesday, December 22, 2009 11:50 AM To: [email protected] Subject: [LegacyUG] Using Legacy with Ancestry.com or other online programs The thread(s) on FTM vs Legacy have me curious how others integrate Legacy and other online programs such as Ancestry.com (which I keep thinking about signing up for). *Even if FTM is adware for Ancestry, do you still make use of Ancestry? (Sort of wondering if the, uh, frustration? on the other threads is only toward FTM, or Ancestry in general?) * Are there other online options that partner better with Legacy (commercial or roll your own site)? *Any tips and tricks to minimize the double entry? __________ Information from ESET Smart Security, version of virus signature database 4709 (20091222) __________ The message was checked by ESET Smart Security. http://www.eset.com Legacy User Group guidelines: http://www.LegacyFamilyTree.com/Etiquette.asp Archived messages after Nov. 21 2009: http://www.mail-archive.com/[email protected]/ <http://www.mail-archive.com/[email protected]/> Archived messages from old mail server - before Nov. 21 2009: http://www.mail-archive.com/[email protected]/ Online technical support: http://www.LegacyFamilyTree.com/Help.asp To unsubscribe: http://www.LegacyFamilyTree.com/LegacyLists.asp Legacy User Group guidelines: http://www.LegacyFamilyTree.com/Etiquette.asp Archived messages after Nov. 21 2009: http://www.mail-archive.com/[email protected]/ Archived messages from old mail server - before Nov. 21 2009: http://www.mail-archive.com/[email protected]/ Online technical support: http://www.LegacyFamilyTree.com/Help.asp To unsubscribe: http://www.LegacyFamilyTree.com/LegacyLists.asp
