The example someone used in a similar situation, would you walk into a Ford
dealership, ask them tolet you  test drive a car, then  have that salesman drop
you off at the Chevy dealership, and buy a Chevy and say thank you for
waiting?  In my own mind, as Sherry states, discussing how to transfer back and
forth from various programs is an acceptable topic. Discussing why you like
Brand X better than Legacy, or how to fix things on that other program, should
not be accepted here, nor in any industry. This is just politeness. Let's not
keep this topic going. Thank you.    Rich in LA CA

Wow!  Seriously?  I've only been on this list a few days, but it sure seems to
have a very hostile tone.  I really don't get why I'm getting my hands smacked
for this query.  What specifically are you reading that suggests any questions
simply about the pros and cons of Ancestry?  Unless you are stating that a
discussion of the pros and cons of using Ancestry in cooperation with Legacy is
also *way* off topic?

This is the LUG, correct?  I am in fact a LU, and a new one at that, only a
couple of weeks.  Would you agree that ones genealogical database program is
the heart of their system?  In this case it should go w/o saying we are talking
about Legacy.  As a brand new paying customer of Legacy, I am curious how to
get the most value out of it.  Call me confused, but Legacy integration with
third party products, specifically in relation to my own online presence, seems
to me it couldn't be more on topic.  Surly you are not suggesting that Legacy
is the end-all be-all tool for genealogists and any posts to the contrary are
off limits here?

While I am certainly interested in your acceptable list of topic in how to
incorporate into Legacy stuff found online, I am just as interested to know how
best to do the opposite of that - move what I have in Legacy online somehow.
Who better to answer that then the LU's?

If I have completely misunderstood the use of the term 'user's group' in this
case, please advise.  And, if that is in fact the case, let me offer
my apologies in advance to the users and customer support of this list.

Sincerely,

Please = no discussion about Ancestry.com pros and cons.  That’s *way* off
topic of Legacy and Legacy's add-on programs.

Unless it's on how to incorporate data from Ancestry (or any other website)
into Legacy.....

Thanks for using Legacy.

Subject: [LegacyUG] Using Legacy with Ancestry.com or other online programs

The thread(s) on FTM vs Legacy have me curious how others integrate Legacy and
other online programs such as Ancestry.com (which I keep thinking about signing
up for).

*Even if FTM is adware for Ancestry, do you still make use of Ancestry?
(Sort of wondering if the, uh, frustration? on the other threads is only toward
FTM, or Ancestry in general?)

* Are there other online options that partner better with Legacy (commercial or
roll your own site)?

*Any tips and tricks to minimize the double entry?
