I read an interesting article in the newspaper the other day that 40% of the US 
population doesn't have broadband access. If you include those who can't afford 
it or don't wish to get it, then you'll find a large number of people even in 
the US don't have broadband.

Many, many computer users around the world are still using dial-up or have 
metered service.

Hence the need, as Ron pointed out, for LUG listers to be considerate of those 
who aren't as "wired" as they are and refrain from HTML and attachments and to 
clean up messages so only the part pertinent to your response is included.

It should be realised that in many parts of the world people are still using
dial-up and paying for the Megabytes downloaded. Pictures are also great for
hiding viruses. The former reason is why we are requested to delete Legacy's
footnotes at the end of each email and remove old posts. (See Etiquette
rules at the end of every email - and then delete if you reply :-)).
