Ward, That is curious because I'm not having that problem at all. I too just experimented with another GEDCOM 5.5 export, to make sure what I had tried yesterday worked with different templates. Specifically, I exported an individual and about 40 of his descendants in 5.5 format, then imported into RM4 from the GEDCOM. With a SourceWriter template for E-mail > Grouped by correspondent, my citation in Legacy looks like this:
Martha Doe, Decatur, Illinois [(E-ADDRESS) FOR PRIVATE USE,] to Connie Sheets, e-mail, 15 Sep 1994, "More Allen/Slatten"; privately held by Sheets; citing "a Casey Co., KY History by Faye Bastin Paivey Cornett, publ. in 1992." In RootsMagic, it looks like this: Doe, Martha, E-mail correspondence with Connie Sheets. Privately held by Sheets, Martha Doe, Decatur, Illinois [(E-ADDRESS) FOR PRIVATE USE,] to Connie Sheets, e-mail<; privately held by Sheets., 15 Sep 1994>, "More Allen/Slatten,"..citing "a Casey Co., KY History by Faye Bastin Paivey Cornett, publ. in 1992." Badly scrambled, yes, but everything is there. No details (or text comments) are missing. Looking at the GEDCOM file itself, I can see why someone might think the details are missing, because the source at the beginning of the file looks like this: 0 @S818@ SOUR 1 ABBR Correspondence: Doe, Martha 1 TITL E-mail correspondence with Connie Sheets. Privately held b 2 CONC y Sheets, Martha Pulliam, Decatur, Illinois [(E-ADDRESS) FO 2 CONC R PRIVATE USE,] to Connie Sheets, e-mail<; privately held b 2 CONC y Sheets. 1 AUTH Doe, Martha The details are stored with the individual, as I presume they should be, for example: 1 NAME James /ALLEN/ 2 GIVN James 2 SURN ALLEN 2 SOUR @S818@ 3 PAGE 15 Sep 1994>, "More Allen/Slatten," 3 QUAY 3 3 DATA 4 TEXT citing "a Casey Co., KY History by Faye Bastin Paivey Corne 5 CONC tt, publ. in 1992." It still seems to me the issue is not Legacy's ability to create a GEDCOM that contains all of the information; the issue is most likely a "receiving program" issue. [Although perhaps Legacy can do something to ease the problem, it isn't true the details do not export, at least on my set-up] with the templates I have looked at so far. Connie Ward Walker wrote: "Dave, Ron, and Connie, I just tried a 1-individual GEDCOM 5.5 export. The source details were completely missing from the SW-originated citations, although the text from the Text/Comments tab of the Detail was present. (The source details from a Basic-originated citation were not missing.) The 2 SW templates involved in this test were: Internet > Website, generic (as in Dave's test) and Email > Grouped by corresponent. The templates that I had investigated last year all had the details in the export. I don't recall if I looked at these 2. Perhaps Legacy has changed such that details are now missing for ALL templates! If so, a serious, but understandable, problem has evolved into a major defect.
