There isn't a way to change a child so that s(he is not the preferred child. That sounds bad, but consider: Legacy has to know a preferred child is preferred so it can generate drawings, I think. Legacy is not saying "this" child is more important than that child, just indicating which child you are placing emphasis (for whatever reason) on. I use "preferred" to alert me to which child I am currently researching the descendants or ancestors of.
I tried a case with six children, added one child, and made the seventh preferred. Previously, the third child was "preferred." Saved it, shut down, and rebooted. Went back to the family, deleted the seventh child, and the child preference went back to the third child. This is what it is supposed to do. Thanks.
