It's ok - I just never knew about the * appearing there because I never
had that part turned on in the display until I started experimenting
with the customization settings.  While it might not be a bug per se, it
can be an annoyance for some, knowing that not every family has a
"preferred child."   I don't know what they could call it instead, but
I'm just a perfectionist that way and it bothered me, so I turned off
that part of the display.  Legacy is a great product, just not perfect,
but no product is.  --Jerry
