Hello all, Many of you Legacy power users will probably roll your eyes at this question, but please be patient with me. I actually have looked at the Help file and done several searches of the archives, but I'm still not getting the info I'm looking for. And I've been out to the Legacy support site.
I understand the mechanics of using events. And I understand the basic "use case" whereby you record specifics (date, location) for major events like births, deaths, burials, etc., and you associate citations, files, notes, etc. All that makes sense to me. I even get why you might record Occupation or Religion. What I don't understand is the general context for adding an event called "User Story" or "Census" or similar as suggested in various email threads. To me these are not events, but are sources. I'm surmizing there's a benefit to using Legacy in this way, and I'd like to weigh that usage model as I start to embrace Legacy more fully. Regarding documentation-related events like "User Story" or "Census", what's the advantage of doing things that way as opposed to creating a master source, creating a citation based on that source, and attaching it to a non-documentation event or, as a parking lot for an individual, to the unspecified event? Then you could put the story in the Notes section of the detail and attach a file, etc. I'm just not deep enough yet into Legacy to see what benefits one approach gives me over the other. Lastly, what other ways do people generally use Legacy events besides the two above? And most important, *why*?
