Laird, Whilst we are aware of that, and how to reassign, it should be remembered that many of Legacy Users are not as familiar with the working of the Windows o/s. It is for this reason that I tend to give cautions even when I know how to overcome various problems. After all, this list for Legacy and its associated programs rather than the o/s.

That is true. But there is an easy way to reassign/force drive letters to any valid letter D: through Z: that you want. You may have to be logged in as Administrator to do this, but I am not sure. Open "Control Panel" Next open "Administrative Tools" Next open Computer Management" Next open Disk Management" In the top or lower part of the window, select and RIGHT click on the drive you want to reassign. Then select :Change Drive Letters and Paths..." A small window will open, click the "Change..." button Another small window will open and there you can select a new drive letter. If an unwanted HDD is already assigned the letter you desire, you will need to reassign it to something else FIRST then go back to the drive you want to reassign.
