When you select File>Import>GEDCOM and select a gedcom file to import, you will be given the option to import into a new file.

I do not want to put the new gedcom into my main data base. So, if I import it, will it ask me where I want to put it? Not sure how to indicate I want the gedcom information into a whole new, separate project.
