My Event notes has something like this " Information, personal & tombstone photo submitted by:" and I give the name and date, with other information depending on the situation such as tombstone Inscription if it's a very old stone, then My source is findagrave.com, under Details, I add the URL for the particular memorial. Doing it this way I can have the Source "findagrave.com" on my clipboard, and only have to add the URL to the details, then I or anyone else can find the webpage for the memorial. Of course, I more interested in wepages from Legacy than I am in writing a book. When I add findagrave records, I say "Record submitted by" and the name. I record what they've submitted and then add the URL. Of course, I'd love to have that photo for my files, but I just record that a photo has been added and by whom. I've searched findagrave and found where they alow snipits of partial information to be submitted onto memorials, but didn't find anything about taking snipits from a memorial. Thanks to Tim for the "Copyright Fundamentals for Genealogy" URL. Here's an example: "copies the pages and posts small, significant portions from them online". This comes under the "fair use" copyright law. I don't know them, so I would suggest that you read them. Copyright of an image usually belongs to the photographer (for a long, long time), but this may have been passed to FindaGrave, who could then apply their own conditions for reproduction.
