On some old paper pedigrees, DSP meant that someone died without issue. It had nothing to do with whether they ever married or had a live-in partner. It simply indicated that the person had no children. In Legacy, there is a symbol that will appear when no children are in the database connected to a marriage record, there is a symbol to indicate there are children in the database, but the ! (exclamation mark) only indicates that the check box "never married and had no children" is filled in. If an individual was married but never had children, there is no symbol for that nor any way to indicate it in Legacy. I would like to see two check boxes like others have suggested. One to indicate DSP and the other to indicate never married. If those two should both be true, then continue to display ! for that combination. A blank only means that nothing is registered in the database for marriage or offspring.
