Ellen, please read my original post carefully. I believe I am right in saying that as soon as you add a child to an unmarried individual, Legacy automatically creates a marriage for that individual, and the spouse icon does not highlight as you suggest. This icon will only highlight when you add a husband, known or unknown. You also cannot unlink the marriage without then unlinking the child. My concern is not with "never married and had no children" but how various reports treat an individual who had a child from an unmarried/unknown relationship. Jay has pointed me in the right direction, but I need to test this further. Kind regards, Mal
