Jenny,
I might be a little confused since haven't used these particular sources but if
I had found a record by using an index, once I had the record I would delete
the index as a source. For example, if I found a couple on Ancestry.com in the
Mississippi Marriage Index and then I wrote off to the county to get the actual
record, once I had that record that would be my source, not the index.

Subject: [LegacyUG] Shared Events and Sources

I have just been reminded about the fact that when one shares an Event, ALL
attached Sources are applied to the people with whom the Event is Shared. This
has been mentioned here before as it is not always appropriate.

To give one example, I had the GRO Registration Index entry as a Source for
Marriage. Subsequently I was able to access the Parish Register and added that
as a Source. From the PR I gleaned the names of 2 family members who were
Witnesses so I Shared the Marriage Event to these 2 people. The GRO Index does
not show the Witnesses so is not relevant as a Source for their Shared Event,
but it appears as one.

What are other LUGgers doing in these circumstances? Are you deciding not to
use Shared Events in these cases? Are you ignoring the problem and allowing
the incorrect Sourcing to stand? Are you adding a comment to the Citation to
indicate that it does not apply in all instances where it is Shared?

I really want to make use of Sharing, but I am not at all happy with having
"faulty" Sourcing. I hope the ability to separate Sources for Shared Events is
something the programmers might give us eventually.
