I wouldn't wait. I have had the Fall update for a while now. It's mainly a make it look like Windows 10 update with more business functionality. Main thing to remember when using any cloudy service provided storage for backup, is to only connect it when you need it. Crypto locking rasomware will also encrypt your OneDrive.
I use Western Digital Passport drives with Microsoft's Sync Toy to make offline backups. I pop it in, run my backups and back it goes to work for offsite storage.
