this is the recent work of Markus. > > - on Linux, src/comms/libirctrcx and src/comms/libjirctrcx can be > > built and work flawlessly; src/comms/libirctrcx2 and src/comms/ > > libjirctrcx2 can be built, but do not work (firmdl always brings up > > an "RCX not responding" error) This was me about a year ago. I discovered that Markus' changes for MS-Windows broke the Linux version and fixed it. Since C++ gave me some trouble with linking I ported it to plain C, the code was close to plain C anyway. However, this seems to have broken the MS-Windows and Mac versions. See http://thread.gmane.org/gmane.comp.java.lejos/2108 . After that Markus forked off the lib[j]irctrcx2 version. > > In my opinion, a good strategy could be to focus on getting the lib > > (j)irctrcx2 versions running on Linux and Mac OSX to have a single > > souce for the communication libs. > > > > What do you think of it? I'd rather use the C version, unless there is somebody else who wants to support a C++ version for Linux. An even better option would be to switch to libusb, if it has matured enough by now. Then it should be portable to various systems out of the box.
