Hi all,

I'd rather use the C version, unless there is somebody else
who wants to support a C++ version for Linux.

I take it that the "C version" means the contents of the present lib(j)irtrcx folders.

Well, after all this fixing, breaking other platforms (as a matter of fact, I did so by myself with MacOSX) and refixing, I do not give any hoots for C or C++ at all as long as we succeed in getting a communication libs version running on all three platforms at all...;-)

With NTX knocking on leJOS' door, in my opinion we should just try to get leJOS 3 out without putting to much effort in the low level layer any more.

After all, when abandoning the lib(j)irctrx2 folders (that appear to work presently for windows only), I'm not sure what we loose doing so - for aught I know, Markus worked in some substantial enhancements in terms of reliability there, compared to the lib(j)irctrcx versions(?).

At least we would need someone who gets lib(j)irtrcx built and running successfully on Windows - volunteers?

An even better option would be to switch to libusb,
if it has matured enough by now.

What's "libusb"?

Then it should be portable to various systems out of the box.

That would be some kind of comfort indeed ;-)

Regards,
 Matthias
