Explain something to me could you please Paul. Are you aware that the Libertarian Party was founded on December 11, 1971 in Colorado Springs, Colorado? Actually, it was a paper organization for basically a year. So, in effect it was really founded in 1972.
If you posit that "no real libertarian would ever join the Republican Party..." what does that say for all the libertarians in the world who existed before 1972? Really, you could say, 1974 or 1975, because outside of Washington State and Colorado (the 2 States where the LP was organized), hardly anyone had even heard of the LP til about 1975/76. Historically, Roger MacBride has the distinction of being the very first human being ever to run for public office as a "libertarian." In 1966, Roger, then a Vermont Legislator ran for Governor in the GOP primaries. And in ever press interview he said that he was a "libertarian." How do you explain libertarians pre-1972 (really pre-1976), who ran for office in the GOP as "libertarians"? After all there was no Libertarian Party in existence. Was Roger MacBride and others like him, "not really libertarians?" Come to think of it, Murray Rothbard himself was very active in the Republican Party in the 1950s.
