A sentient being is also a fly. Sentience depends on consciousness and mind. Beta waves are not the only waves in the universe that transmit and receive information. During their NDE none of the people have shown any beta waves activity, yet they were conscious. You cannot use a fact of the limited means of a discovery as evidence of truth. Empirical evidence shows that lack of beta waves is not a proof regarding lack or presence of sentience.
