With our present power in relation to the rest of the world, we could probably return to the Articles government without any harm. Who knows? The southwestern states might even be able to resist the invasion more efficiently without fedgov interference. The important thing is to work together to reduce the monster. When we reach the 1913 level or the 1860 level then we can debate about how much farther it is advisable to go.
