Why is there a collectivist spouting off in a libertarian forum? This is very tiresome and quite silly. Bob, why is the choice between spending money in Iraq and spending it on welfare? Why not just stop stealing it from me and let me spend it how I see fit? Oh, that is the libertarian question. You'd rather ask the wrong questions. We now know that civilizing Middle East Muslims is as difficult as herding cats -- but more violent. They are culturally incapable of civilized government. The objectives with Iran would be 1) eliminate their nuclear weapons program, and 2) make them pay a price for killing Americans and otherwise disrupting life in Iraq. The role of the US government / military is to serve the interests of Americans, not Iraqis. 2. Every soldier in the US military is a volunteer who knew about Iraq prior to his or her enlistment or last reenlistment. 3. Are you proposing to take the tax dollars spent on the military -- a primary government institution -- and spend those dollars on welfare state programs?
