The USA has been successful in keeping them destabilized. Turkey is moving in the right direction. Muslims were once some of the most civilized peoples while the Christian west sunk into the dark ages. The majority of Iran is under 20 years of age and they are interested in a more democratic/capitalistic society. The USA keeps impeding progress in that direction. If I was Iranian, I would want some nuclear deterrents to give the USA pause about their interference. AND, if I was iranian, I would be working hard to move the pricing of oil to Euro based pricing. But, the USA is shoot itself in the foot (tank) here as they keep "printing" money to fund the Iraqi war causing the dollar to decrease dramatically in value. Since oil is priced in dollars, it takes a lot more dollars to buy the same barrel of oil without taking into account increasing world demand.
