(10/17/98) It is obvious that you can use your car's battery in the same way
you use the above external battery. Just replace the 12V battery with an
igniter plug, you are ready to go! You even do not need the 15V cheating
battery and the "Y" splitter. Simply start your car first (so the igniter
voltage output will be raised to 13.5-14.5V) and then plug it in. You can
then turn off your car if you are not driving. Don't worry about draining
out your car's battery, it can power your L50 continuously for couple days
if it has been fully charged.

I'd agree it's ok to use the car battery power...but not with the engine
running :)
