So I'm assuming the Garmin GPS III comes with software that allows you to 
create these "waypoints/routes/tracks" on the Lib, and then upload them to 
the handheld.... no?

So not only can you upload data as you mentioned... you can download from 
the Garmin too.  But you can only download these "snap shots" of the 
handheld display... yes?

These's no other kinds of data that can go from the handheld to the Lib, 
right?

I wonder if other gps handhelds have the capability of displaying their maps 
on the Lib.
